An industrial facility with several production halls in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, spanning over 30,000 sqm.
Project requirements
The factory needed a complete modernization of its network infrastructure - a full retrofit that would replace the existing cabling with a single unified network with spare capacity for expansion, able to support three separate networks at once: office IT, the manufacturing execution system (MES) and video surveillance.
The installation was carried out while the facility was running normally. Multiple halls, long distances, dust and continuous operation. The cabling design had to ensure performance in line with the standards, strict segregation between networks, redundancy with no single point of failure, PoE power for IP cameras and Wi-Fi access points, plus spare capacity for future expansion.

The solution - turnkey SYSTIMAX
We designed, supplied and installed a complete SYSTIMAX® structured cabling system - Category 7 copper cable (F/FTP) and OS2 singlemode optical fiber - the physical layer on top of which we built a fully segregated enterprise network with a redundant topology.
Fiber backbone routes
8 rings of OS2 optical fiber link all the technical rooms, with primary and secondary routes for redundancy.
Shielded Cat 7 copper
Cable with an overall screen and individually shielded pairs, protected in HDPE conduit, terminated with Cat 6A (Class EA) connectivity.
Three segregated networks
Office, MES and CCTV logically separated on the same physical infrastructure - for security and traffic isolation.
Certified and guaranteed for 25 years
A certified SYSTIMAX installation, tested and registered for the extended product and application warranty.
Cassettes labeled per ring: each ring has a primary and a secondary route - if one link goes down, traffic continues on the other.
OS2 terminations: LIU panel with 24 LC/UPC adapters and a splice tray.

On top of this comes the supporting infrastructure: ~2,200 m of cable tray, ~900 m of KPM tray, ~7,500 m of HDPE conduit and ~1,500 m of flexible conduit, plus 27 racks - 4× 42U in the server room and 23× 15U across the halls.
Field rack: CommScope Cat 7 panels and patch cords, Cisco PoE switches labeled per network (MES, CCTV).
Patching labeled at port level, on cable management - easy to trace and easy to maintain.
The network built on top of this infrastructure
On the structured cabling we installed the active network: Cisco Catalyst 9300X Layer-3 cores, over 80 Catalyst 9200 PoE access switches, redundant Palo Alto firewalls and 2 Catalyst 9800 wireless controllers.

Uninterruptible power (UPS)
The new network is backed by a modular 40 kW Eaton 93PS UPS (20 kW modules), with a maintenance bypass switch (MBS) and an SNMP monitoring card. Backup power is completed by an external battery cabinet and a 200 A plus 2× 125 A panel (two battery strings). The system was commissioned, checked and tested by the authorized Eaton team.
The results
A certified network, guaranteed for 25 years. A SYSTIMAX® system tested and registered for the extended product and application warranty.
Segregation and redundancy. Three separate networks, on fiber rings with dual routes. No single point of failure: a single cut route still leaves the network with an alternate path.
Capacity reserve. Cat 7 copper and OS2 fiber with bandwidth margin above the requirements of the applications installed today.
A single platform, easy to maintain. SYSTIMAX-certified cabling, labeled and documented - easy to extend as the factory grows.
