Radio coverage for two buildings of a private hospital

124 antennas across two private-hospital buildings in Bucharest: coverage from the operating theatre and intensive care down to three basement levels and the underground passage between buildings - on a multi-operator system that expands without stopping medical activity.

About the project

A private hospital in Bucharest, with two medical buildings connected by an underground passage. Because the concrete structure shielded the outdoor signal, an antenna-based radio distribution system had to be designed and installed. For one of the leading mobile network operators, Claritech implemented the indoor coverage system of the entire complex - with works executed without interfering with activity on the wards.

Project requirements

In a hospital, mobile coverage is an operational requirement: communication for patients, families and medical staff, including in areas with no outdoor signal. The critical areas are also the hardest to cover: the operating theatre, intensive care, the technical basements and the underground passage between the buildings. Every job is carried out in an active medical space: dust restrictions, strict scheduling, sterile areas where access is planned together with the hospital’s management.

Project type

Indoor coverage system across two hospital buildings, with expansion works executed while medical activity continues.

Location

A private hospital in Bucharest: the main building plus a second medical building, connected by an underground passage.

Coverage

124 antennas across 22 levels, including three basements and the passage between the buildings.

The solution

124 indoor antennas

102 antennas in the main building (13 levels) and 22 in the second building (9 levels) - along corridors, in patient rooms and in technical areas, integrated into the ceilings.

Coverage for zones without signal

The three basement levels and the underground passage between the buildings have antennas of their own - continuous signal where the macro network does not reach.

Multi-operator system

The antenna network is shared: through a radio combiner, the system serves multiple operators - a single infrastructure, with signal for patients on any of the networks shared through the system.

Easy expansion

A new operator or a new technology is added through works in the technical room alone - no new routes through the wards, no dust, no interruptions.

The system in numbers

The system we maintain and expand:

Way of workingWorks planned with the hospital, no interruption of activity

The results

Coverage on all 22 levels. Patients, families and medical staff have signal in both buildings, including the basements and the underground passage - on any of the networks shared through the system.

Coverage in the critical areas. Intensive care, the operating theatre, the basements - the hardest areas to cover have dedicated antennas.

No interruption of medical activity. All works were planned and executed around the wards’ schedules.

One infrastructure, multiple operators. The hospital hosts a single antenna system, shared by several operators.

Why Claritech

Hospitals are among the most sensitive spaces we install in: over 40,000 antennas installed since 2007, many in buildings in full operation - with working procedures that do not affect the client’s activity. See the DAS project portfolio →
