Hala Laminor - a 2G/4G/5G radio system in a public space

A radio distribution system across multiple frequency bands, with antennas installed on the existing steel structure of Hala Laminor in Bucharest.

About the project

Hala Laminor in Bucharest - an industrial heritage hall with an interior area of about 68,000 sqm (400 m long, 180 m wide), a former rolling mill, today a public space hosting events, services and parking - needed the reconfiguration and modernization of its existing radio system.

For one of the leading mobile network operators, Claritech designed and carried out this work: from 700 to 2,600 MHz, across seven frequency sub-bands, with the parking area’s antenna network shared between several operators.

Project requirements

An industrial monument with century-old riveted steel beams, where the antennas, radio units and cable routes had to be integrated into this structure without invasive interventions on the historic elements, at height, above an active public space. In parallel, in the parking sector, the system had to serve not one operator but several: a single antenna network, correctly shared between networks.

Project type

Reconfiguration and modernization of the hall’s radio system: design, installation at height and commissioning.

Location

Hala Laminor, Bucharest - an industrial monument with a riveted steel structure, today a public space.

Technologies

2G–5G across seven frequency bands, from 700 to 2,600 MHz, with multi-operator sharing in the parking sector.

The solution

Seven bands, one system

Radio units on the bands from 700 to 2,600 MHz - every technology from 2G to 5G, delivered through the same antenna infrastructure.

Two sectors, two approaches

The hall sector: antennas mounted on the structure’s columns, with the radio units integrated beneath them. The parking sector: 14 antennas - bi-lobe and panel - with passive distribution calculated for each zone.

Shared between operators

Through a hybrid combiner, the parking area’s antenna network serves several operators simultaneously - a single infrastructure for the zone with the heaviest transit.

Integrated into a heritage building

Antennas, radio units and cable routes fixed to the existing structure, with mounting solutions that respect the historic fabric - plus the technical room relocated to the basement, fed through new optical fiber routes.

Wide view of the hall's roof, with the steel structure and antennas

Radio system mounted on the existing steel structure.

Antenna mounted on the cable tray in the hall's underground parking

Antenna in the underground parking - coverage for the parking levels as well.

What we delivered

ComponentDetails
Frequency bands7, from 700 to 2,600 MHz (2G–5G)
Sectors2 - the main hall and the parking area
Antennas in the parking sector14 (bi-lobe and panel), with passive distribution
ArchitectureMulti-operator in the parking sector, via a 4×4 hybrid combiner
Technical roomRelocated to the basement, on new optical fiber routes

The results

Coverage in the hall and in the parking area. Signal confirmed at commissioning.

5G in a heritage structure. Radio technologies up to 5G, integrated into a century-old building.

A shared infrastructure in the parking area. In the parking area, a single antenna network serves several operators.

Expansion capacity. Seven bands and new optical fiber routes support future expansions without structural work.

Why Claritech

From stadiums to industrial monuments: we design systems adapted to each building’s constraints - with iBwave, our own RF lab and over 40,000 antennas installed. See the DAS project portfolio →
