Air quality matters! Claritech, partnership with aerlive.ro in the campaign “Stop waste burning!”

The fight against pollution is not an easy fight. It takes a lot of work and collaboration, dedication and consistency. More than that, there is a need for involvement on all levels, from the individual, to the entire civil society and up to the business environment and authorities.

Our concern for air quality monitoring motivates our active involvement in projects regarding the implementation of new, sustainable and efficient technologies for a cleaner environment and for building a society based on technological advancement.

To achieve representative results in Romania we need a functional sensor network, with a solid, extended infrastructure and as high as possible sensor density. We deserve to have access to accurate and transparent data about the air we breathe, visible in real time.

That is why we support the concept of a hybrid monitoring network (by supplementing the national network with independent sensor networks) and joined the Aerlive.ro project, to contribute to the development of the existing network.

Claritech, tehnology partner of Aerlive.ro

The partnership with aerlive.ro started in October 2021, when Claritech contributed 4 new sensors for the local network – NuboAir monitoring stations for measuring PM2.5 suspended particles – in main areas of Bucharest: Universitate, Expozitei, Timpuri Noi and Băneasa.

One month later, Claritech continues its partnership with Aerlive.ro and supports the new information campaign initiated by the Center for sustainable policies Ecopolis and Aerlive,“Stop burning waste!”.

One of the objectives of the campaign is to measure the air quality in Bucharest and Ilfov, especially in critical areas where there is frequent uncontrolled burning of waste. And the resulting data will not only heighten the awareness of the reality we are facing, but will represent the steps leading to activities to identify concrete measures that can help improve air quality. A goal for which all those involved in the #aerlive project and its supporters are persistently fighting.

Claritech provides the technology and technical support for the installation of the 6 #NuboAir monitoring systems (certified high-precision sensors for real-time measurement of PM2.5 suspended particles).

Air pollution caused by waste burning is a reality for too many areas in Romania. Anyone can contribute to the expansion of the aerlive.ro network if they sign up for the Adopt a sensor2.0 campaign.

About the Center for Sustainable Policies Ecopolis and Aerlive.ro

Ecopolis is a non-governmental organization established in 2009 that promotes the principles of sustainable development in public policies in Romania. Its activities are focused on air quality issues and together with the Eta2U Foundation and partner organizations launched aerlive.ro, an extensive air quality monitoring project, which requires citizen involvement and advocacy to improve the situation in Bucharest. The platform coherently collects and publishes data on air quality from relevant locations in Bucharest, with expansion also in Cluj-Napoca from 2021.

From October 2021, the aerlive.ro platform also displays data from the CityAir network, the first national air quality monitoring program in the capital’s schools, implemented by the Romanian Smart City Association. As a technology partner of the CityAir program, Claritech supports the initiative with the supply, installation and maintenance of NuboAir monitoring stations, calibrated outdoor sensors for real-time monitoring of pollution levels – particulate emissions PM1.0, PM2.5.

Despre Nubo Air, air quality monitoring system, distributed by Claritech in Romania

The Nubo Air monitoring system ensures accurate measurements for air quality in conditions of long service life, especially because of the redundant configuration, factory calibrated sensors and integrated self-configuration and self-diagnostic functions.

Nubo is MCERTS certified and is produced by Sensirion Switzerland, with a tradition of over 20 years in the production of high precision sensors.
